Publius is actually a group of contributing authors, who are retired U.S. military and Intelligence professionals, with lifetimes of experience and professional education in National Security Management, Military Operations, Intelligence, Foreign Policy, International Relations, and related fields. In this searing indictment of the Republican and Democratic Party leadership of the U.S., these proven patriots of decades of combat service in all wars since WWII, warn of the clear signs of a uniquely American political aberration that emerged in the past five years; a Democratically elected Authoritarian State; that has departed from the Center-right Republican Party traditional-conservatism and Center-left Democratic Party traditional-liberalism,of the U.S. two-party system, into an entirely un-American far right ideological radicalism, which they have identified as the twin threats of “Neo-Fascist-Conservatism” (NFC), aided by fanatical “Christian-Nationalist Fundamentalism” (CNF).

To set the stage for examining the unparalleled growth of this aberration, Publius reviews the history of the conservative governing record in America, and the many wars that have been waged against the American people, and against small impoverished third world nations, which the Imperial and Nationalist-Conservatives have precipitated, since the beginning of the 19th Century.

Publius cites convincing evidence that what we have witnessed is a rejuvenated and well organized Neo-Fascist movement; that has been at work in the United States, almost since the defeat of original Fascism in 1945. Its purpose, already largely realized, is to rehabilitate the ideology of totalitarian Fascist tyranny, cloaked in the respectable mantle of middle class populist traditional-conservatism. (with a little “c”). This right wing movement succeeded in the past forty years, at destroying the political balance of the two-party system, and legally gained far-right one-party control; and absolute political power over our nation, our society, and our very lives, for over five years, with disastrous results. The Democratic Party regained control of the Legislative Branch of Government in 2006, but their victory while broad, was shallow, with many wins by small margins. Moderate Republicans lost, and the GOP now consists virtually entirely, of hard far right Neo-Conservatives.

Even though the so-called NEOCONS strategic pipe dreams have been discredited, and the THEOCONS, have been dispirited by the hypocrisy of their leaders, in the 2006 elections; the struggle for Liberty and Democratic government in the U.S. is just beginning.

These traditional-conservative’s first-hand knowledge of Military Strategy, National Security, Geopolitics, and Foreign Policy issues over the past 50 years, and, in particular, their personal experiences with European Fascism, has given them a unique perspective to compare the characteristics of the original Fascist movements in Italy, Spain, Germany, and other European countries, in the last century; to the rise of what they call the American Neo-Fascist Conservative (NFC) movement in the USA. There is a great reluctance among all American political moderate and Liberal Democratic leaders and politicians to use taboo words from the last century, such as; Fascist, Nazi, Bolshevik, etc, in American political discourse. However, the authors present a solid case for their charges; based on historical and contemporary information, using the public statements and behavior of current and past extreme Conservative-Nationalist and Fascist regimes in world history. Publius strongly argues that the time has come for all good Americans to face the truth about the Neo-Conservatives and their Christian-Nationalist Fundamentalist allies.

This thesis is supported by the simple, but effective device of examining the actual undisputed record of their conduct, and drawing conclusions supported by the opinions or statements of many well known sources; juxtaposing the relevant quotes of these expert witnesses from the past, with those of our own time. They parade before us, a pantheon of respected and despised historical figures; from Jesus Christ to the U.S. Founding Fathers, to Mussolini and Hitler, the first Fascists; to the current NFC rulers. As we read and compare the statements of these figures from history, with the words and the actions of the so-called Neo-Conservatives, we are at once, informed and shocked into an awareness of the danger, that most Americans have not had the time, or interest in politics to understand.

This book provides an exhaustive but readable, unique, and chilling comparison of the current U.S. rulers, with the almost identical ideologies and actions of the first Fascists. Publius systematically presents solid evidence of the similar; methods, rhetoric, objectives, and perverted missionary zeal of the current Neo-Fascist Conservative movement’s leaders, with those of a dark time in world history, not so long ago.

The authors have written this book as an urgent warning to the people of the U.S.and the world; not as a theoretical, academic, or intellectual research exercise. They fully admit that the book is an Anti Neo-Conservative polemic. However, it is not written by Democratic Party political partisans, but by traditional-conservatives, who followed this increasingly radical conservative ideology for 30 years, before becoming disillusioned. Publius accuses the radical Neo-Fascist Conservatives of radically departing from moderate centrist traditional-conservative philosophy and ideology, and embracing policies while they held total power, that were increasingly Authoritarian, and teetering on the edge of a full blown Totalitarian dictatorship.

Publius is no less critical of the Conservative-Light Democrats many of whom have cooperated with the Republicans, especially on Imperialist, and Nationalist Foreign and War policies; and their mutual rape of the people, by sellouts to the Corporate Robber Barons and some Ultra-Rich Oligarchs; that have always exploited the common people for their own gain. The book systematically compares what is now being called Neo-Conservatism, with the original Fascist’s hideous ideology; their common pursuit of absolute world hegemony; obsession with military power and dominance; hostility toward International bodies pursuing peace and mutual security; integration with religious and spiritual fanaticism; blatant abuse of power, perversion of the judicial system; insistence on severe law and order for the people, harsh punishment of enemies and opponents; virtually no legal restraint or accountability for themselves, contempt for public opinion, and a visceral hatred of Democratic and Liberal philosophy and politicians. These features are unmistakable badges of Fascism, as experienced in all prior Universal Fascist movements.

Publius lays out a convincing case; that these radical Conservatives have for decades, been implementing an American version of a totalitarian state in the U.S., gradually becoming very similar to those which successfully gained power in the last century in Fascist Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, and Nazi Germany, and in the very Conservative Bolshevik Leninist/Stalinist Russia. The parallels with European societies in the 1930’s, paints a convincing and frightening prospect for the U.S. and the World.

With its massive Superpower military; actually expanded since the end of the Cold War, a full blown U.S. Fascist Police State would make Nazi Germany seem like a banana republic.Like the Fascists of the last Century, the American Neo-Conservatives have made no secret of their objectives. A large segment of the American people, like the Spanish, Germans and Italians of the last century, have been persuaded to suspend reality, and believe in the false populism and anti-democratic nature of an ideology that claims to lead them to a promised land; but which is actually leading to a totalitarian Dante’s Hell on earth. Publius warns us that we must not only listen to their words, we must scrutinize the actions of these Radical Neo-Fascist Conservative political leaders, and assume they will follow thru on their avowed objectives of endless wars of world domination, religious tyranny, domestic repression, and serfdom for the world’s people; if they are allowed to gain total power again.

Publius asserts that the NFC Republican President, Congress and many Neo-Fascist Conservative U.S. Judges, have essentially already dismantled the U.S. Bill of Rights; violated their oaths to protect and defend the letter and the spirit and intent of the Constitution; and have demonstrated their clear intent to turn the U.S. into a sham Democracy, with a permanent Neo-Fascist ruling Autocratic Oligarchy; which by 2006, was already in it’s first phase, roughly comparable to Germany in the mid 1930s. The 2006 Democratic Congressional victory has not deterred them from this lust for absolute power.

Publius reveals that after 9/11, the Bush administration set up a shadow government operation outside of Washington, D.C. While the Democrats in Congress politely chided the White House for not inviting them to participate, neither the media or the Congress realized that the shadow Government had no use for the Congress, the Judiciary or for that matter any of the levels of state, city, and local governments. According to Publius, the secret plan being rehearsed by the President in the event of another attack of the scale of 9/11, was much more than a Continuity of Government (COG) plan; it is a plan to establish Martial Law throughout the United States; in which the Department of Homeland Security, its Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Army Northern Command, will execute all civil, judiciary and government functions. There is no specific authorization in the Constitution or in Public Law for the Executive to impose nationwide Martial Law, but there is a precedent for such action, as several Presidents, including Lincoln, have already used this ultimate domestic “Nuclear Option” albeit on a limited and brief basis.

An Absolute or Totalitarian Fascist Police State Dictatorship would then be an overnight reality!

Publius systematically exposes the corrupt, fanatical, and determined political, corporate and religious extremists who increasingly control the people, who hold the reigns of Government in the U.S.; and the extreme measures they are planning to take against all American basic civil liberties, should a greater terrorist attack occur, utilizing a Weapon of Mass Destruction, such as a Chemical, Bacteriological or a Nuclear dirty bomb. What is most troubling, he observes, is that a large percentage of the American people, like the good conservative Christian middle class German citizens of Pre-War Nazi Germany, have been actively cooperating in the continuous dismantling of their precious and unique Rights and Liberties, and their free society; to obtain a measure of false security. He reasons that they have fallen victim to unreasonable fear, and like the German people, have no idea where the NFC Ideology is leading them.

Publius argues that unless we make permanent changes in our body politic, we could wake up the morning after the 2008 elections, living in an Orwellian nightmare, with an unchastised and uncontrollable Neo-Fascist government, employing the world’s most powerful arsenal of weapons, ready willing and able to use them on any nation, or people, who are opposed to U.S. Nationalist and “Corporate Vital Interests”, as unilaterally decided by our next Commander-in-Chief. We cannot count on the American Army to protect us, as they have demonstrated many times in our history; that most of them will be good soldiers; take orders from our leaders, and suppress, imprison, torture, and kill, any domestic enemies, now conveniently identified as “Illegal Enemy Combatants” by the U.S. Government.

Publius urges a second American Revolution, an “American Liberal -Democracy” political Revolution; against the tyranny of this foreign ideology, and its allies in the heretical and dangerous Christian-Nationalist religious movement, that are destroying American society. He proposes an all out mobilization and unification of all liberal and progressive democratic organizations into an American “Liberal-Democracy Alliance”, and an urgent campaign to get out the vote in 2008, to retain control of the U.S. House and Senate, and regain the Presidency from the NFC Republicans. Everything else pales to this overriding necessity!

He urges that action be taken to throw as many NFC Republican legislators out of office, in the next several elections; while we still have the right to vote. This will put a brake on the reckless actions of the NEOCONS, which are leading the nation into a new arms race, nuclear proliferation, and the real possibility of a Nuclear War. The Democratic Party (DLC) Leadership is equally blamed for placing the American people and the world in this great danger.

The purpose of this book, is to alert the public to this real and continuing danger; and to provide the people with a layman’s understanding of the Geo-Political and Ideological truths that are needed, to oppose the powerful and persuasive Neo-Fascist political ideology, and Christian-Nationalist religious dogma, that has infected much of American society, by the opening years of the 21st century. Publius provides a suggested long term political countermeasures program of education and indoctrination in the principles of the unique Western Liberal-Democratic system of government; to permanently destroy the U.S. Neo-Fascist movement, and to foster a continuing political Renaissance, that can return the U.S. to the traditional Western ideals of the European Enlightenment, which our people have lately been taught to despise.

Publius is critical of the Democratic Party for failing to institutionalize Western Liberal-Democracy as the popular Center of the American political tradition, when they had the power. He criticizes their long history of appeasement of the Nationalist-Conservatives of both parties, but also expresses hope that enough wise leaders of the Democratic Party will find the courage to speak out about these issues, and that some of their best and brightest will be inspired to lead this political revolution, and help to return the nation to its idealistic goals of peace and prosperity for Americans, and a Renaissance of Western Liberal-Democratic principals and International cooperation, for the salvation of the entire world. If they fail to lead, a new party of the people will have to be created.

From 1994 to 2006, a radical and intrinsically evil political movement, finally gained

almost total control of the levers of national power of the most powerful country in the

world. By 2004, the world was shocked to witness a democratically elected,

authoritarian and aggressively militaristic government, controlling the United States of

America. This extreme right Neo-Conservative movement has embraced a radical

totalitarian political ideology; and allied itself with fanatical Christian-Nationalist

Fundamentalist Crusaders. Together they have been spreading a gospel of world

domination, narrow religious bigotry, and class warfare; undermining the very

foundations of International Order and World Peace. This book is intended to provide

a stark warning to Americans and peace loving people everywhere, of the real and

present danger of a re-emerging Universal Neo-Fascist movement in the U.S. and

other Western countries.

The American Neo-Conservatives suffered a temporary setback in the U.S. elections of

2006, when the Democratic Party regained control of the Legislative Branch of

Government, but the so-called NEOCONS are unchastised, and have consolidated their

control of the Republican Party. They continue to represent a grave danger to Liberty

and World Peace. Political action, by every American citizen, is needed to unmask,

and delegitimize this movement, to prevent a return to a dark time in world history

that happened just 70 years ago. Americans, in particular are urged to unite and vote

in overwhelming numbers, for Liberty, Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace in 2008;

while they still have the right to vote. This may be the last chance to save the world

from the malignant and virulent disease, some call Neo-Conservatism; but which is the

same old totalitarian tyranny, which has blackened world history for millennia.
