POLITICAL
REVOLUTION NEEDED TO LIBERATE AMERICA
Organizing
the Forces of American Liberal Democracy
Just
Who Was The
First Liberal?
“You
have heard it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a
tooth’, but
I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. But
if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also.
You
have heard that it was said, ‘you shall love your neighbor and
hate
your enemy.
But
I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Jesus
Christ, Matthew 5:38-43
The
U.S.Democratic Party has been turning the other cheek for decades,
and losing the fight for human liberties; by trying to follow a path
of moderation and bi-partisan cooperation with an increasingly
totalitarian movement that is out to crush them, and the American
system of Liberal Democracy. If there is any lesson that should have
been learned from WWII, it is that there can be no appeasement of
such movements.
“We…have
never asserted ourselves representatives of the democratic point of
view, but have openly declared that we take recourse to democratic
means to win power and after our seizure of power, we shall decline
without any hesitation, to afford to our opponents all those means
which were put at our disposal in times of opposition.” Adolf
Hitler, Mein Kampf
Nothing has changed in the
strategy of Fascism. As a result of gaining complete control of all
branches of government; the Bush regime has demonstrated how any
follow-on NFC
Republican regime will behave.
They
intend to enjoy the same complete immunity, and unchallenged
dictatorial power to do whatever they like, from waging illegal wars,
to presiding over organized systems of torture, to violating the
Constitution and the Civil and Human Rights of the American people,
and looting the U.S. treasury at the expense of the American
commonwealth.
“The
State is nothing more than a creation of man the social animal, and
must always be subject to his will.” Niccolo Machiavelli
The
questions for all Americans to ask are:
-
Is
the Democratic Party capable of recognizing the seriousness of the threat?
-
Will
the NFC War
Criminals ever be held accountable?
-
Will
the Corruption of
the Congress be stopped?
-
Can the Democratic Party lead
the nation back to the governing path laid out by the founders?
“Experience
hath shewn, that even under the best forms [of government] those
entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted
it into tyranny.”
Thomas
Jefferson
The answers are in serious
doubt, as they have, until now offered only weak kneed opposition to
the unmitigated criminality of the Bush regime. They have for
instance, continued to argue that they would do a better job than
Bush in running the ruinous Iraqi occupation; when they should be
demanding that the U.S./British/Italian occupation be ended; and that
the Iraqization
task be turned over to regional Muslim forces, under the
political leadership of the UN.
To be as fair as possible,
the Democratic Party politicians are not entirely at fault for this
situation. The American people, until now, under the spell of the NFC
Right-Wing spin machine, and the Christians who have
fallen victim to the irrational hypnotism of their CNF
Crusading leaders, have not understood the gravity of
the problem, and have not demanded that the Democratic Party
politicians either defend the principles and ideals of American
Liberal Democracy, or step aside.
In
short they must: Lead-Follow-Or Get the Hell out of the Way!
The
people must get involved now, if America is to be Liberated.
David VanOs, who is
running for the post of Texas Attorney General, is a self described
Populist Democrat
who has identified the basic problem with the Democratic Party
strategy that has resulted in so many defeats at the polls:
“It
is time to discard the "avoid polarization at all costs"
strategy, the "take no risks" strategy, the "appeal to
everybody" strategy, and the "chase the middle"
strategy. It is time to remember what Jim Hightower told us 20 years
ago, that "there's nothin' in the middle of the road but yellow
stripes and dead armadillos." It is time to cease the
followership strategies of scripting campaigns on the basis of what
people thought yesterday in polls, and assert the leadership
strategies of campaigning for what we know to be right based on our
deepest convictions of what we want for tomorrow. It is time to stop
worrying about whom we might offend if we speak truth to power, and
start worrying about what value are our lives if we don't speak truth
to power. It is time to cherish partisan Democrats and reject
nonpartisan Nothingcrats. It is time to forget "right-left"
analysis and install "right-wrong" analysis.
It
is time to replace the "liberal-conservative" spectrum with
the "liberty-tyranny" spectrum. It is time to stop worrying
about how to get money from big donors and start worrying about how
to get more money into working people's paychecks. It is time to
fight for better lives for voters instead of peddle promises to
voters. It is time to treat public office as a duty, not a
promotion. We must fight for the people, not in order to win their
votes, but in order to win them justice.” David VanOs
VanOs is the type of
candidate we must find all over America, and the American people must
quickly find a new way to organize themselves, such that the
Democratic Party will have no choice but to represent the philosophy
and principles of American Liberal Democracy, which is the superior
political governing system of modern civilization. Those
Conservative-Democrats, such as Rep. Zell Miller, of Georgia, and
Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, and others in the DLC, who follow
the same ideology of the NFC
Republicans, are in the wrong party, and should join
the other traitors that have left the Democratic Party. History has
taught us that it is a dangerous situation for one party to have a
mixed spectrum of ideology; while the other Party is marching under
the totalistic banner of the ideology of Fascism.
What
is urgently needed, and this book proposes; is a Second American
Revolution to restore the core social and political culture of the
American nation.
“America,
will cease to resemble the country outlined in the Constitution of
1787 unless there is a "revolutionary rehabilitation of American
Democracy.>” Chalmers Johnson, Historian
Thoreau
held that Governments, in practice, are always hostile to reformers.
On
Reformers:
“Why
does it always crucify Christ, and excommunicate Copernicus, and
Luther, and pronounce Washington and Franklin rebels?” Henry
David Thoreau
The
reforms of the next revolution must harness the kind of genuine
populist political action that resulted in the; Abolition of Slavery,
Suffrage for Women, the breaking of the stranglehold of the Robber
Baron Trusts, the Depression Age New Deal, the Black Civil Rights
struggle, the Vietnam Anti-War Movement, and the vision of the Great
Society.
“Never
give in…never, never, never, never! Never yield in any way,
great
or small, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield
to force and the apparently overwhelming might of the
enemy…”
Winston
Churchill, Prime Minister of England, 1941
The
enemies of Liberal Democracy have never gone away; they have again
returned from the dark and slimy sewers of tyranny and oppression
from which they come. This time; just like the Fascists of 1930s
Germany, they are riding on the backs of angry white middle class
men, who have been convinced that their poor, black, female, and
immigrant fellow Americans, and their liberal defenders are the cause
of all of their economic and social misery. They are dead wrong!
On
Democracy:
“The
greatest massacre of all times has a name; Democracy. This word hides
the voracity of Jewish Capitalism which, through the butchery of men
and the ruin of Christian civilization, wants to carry out the
scientific exploitation of the world.” Benito Mussolini,
October 14, 1944
The NFC
Republicans are their eternal enemies and they must be
persuaded of this reality.
The
first Revolution was against the geographically distant, English King
George, and his Royal Aristocratic Imperial-Conservative Parliament;
that
was tyrannizing and oppressing the people of the English colonies in
America. In order to gain independence from this
Imperial-Conservative and Dictatorial government it was necessary to
revolt and to wage a violent war of Independence.
Today we are led by an
ideologically distant Imperial George, who leads a no less tyrannical
and oppressive Nationalist
Neo-Fascist-Conservative dictatorial political Party;
that is abusing and oppressing the people of the U.S. and the world.
In order to gain our Independence from this movement it is necessary
to ignite a political revolution, which, thanks to the founders, can
still be accomplished with the ballot box instead of the cartridge
box.
The NFC
ideology is foreign, corrupt, Un-American, and a menace to our
society and the world.
The
Democratic Party must support this People’s Political Revolution,
or a new party will have to take its place.
The alternative is to live
in a nation, and world, dominated and oppressed by a single party NFC
Dictatorship, armed with the most powerful arsenal in
world history, with no moral or ethical constraints.
Democracy
and a Republic-Not Mutually Exclusive
Plato’s
View on Democracy:
“It’s
probably the most gorgeous political system there is, its beauty
comes from the fact that it is adorned with every aspect of human
trait, as a cloak might be adorned with every species of flower.”
Republic by Plato
At
the conclusion of the Continental Congress, a lady asked Benjamin
Franklin;
“Well
doctor, do we have a Republic or a Monarchy?”
Franklin
is reported to have replied; “A Republic—If we can keep
it.”
The NFC
Republicans are fond of asserting that the founders
established the United States as a Republic.
By this they mean an Aristocratic Oligarchy, ruled by an Elect ruling
class, with as little involvement of the people as possible. This is
absolutely dishonest. They know very well that the intellectually
learned and astute founders were intimately familiar with all of
benefits and the faults of the various forms of government that had
existed throughout history. They wisely chose the Executive form of a
Constitutional Republic,
but one in which the people are sovereign, not a King, an
Emperor, a Dictator, or an Aristocratic Ruling Class Oligarchy.
They
chose a Representative Democracy in which the Executive is restrained
by the representatives of the people.
By choosing to give the
people the power of frequently selecting their Representatives in
Congress, and their President, they created a government which
embraced the Liberal principles of the Enlightenment.
Initially, the Constitution provided only that members of the House
of Representatives and the head of the Executive branch would be
elected at regular intervals by the people. The election of the
Senate by popular vote was added later. The terms are not mutually
exclusive, but the NFC
Republicans would have us believe they are.
“Sparta,
Athens, Rome, and Carthage were all Republics; two of them, Athens
and Carthage, of the Commercial kind. Yet were they as often engaged
in wars, offensive and defensive, as the neighboring monarchies of
the same times. Sparta was little better than a well regulated camp;
and Rome was never sated of carnage and conquest.”
Alexander
Hamilton, The Federalist Papers, No. 6
NFC
politicians prefer the Sham type of Roman Republic of Caesar
Augustus, and his despotic descendants; where all power is shared
between a ruling class of Patricians or Aristocrats, and a strong
Dictatorial Leader. The principal Government buildings in Washington
DC, were built in the early 20th Century, when the
Paleo-Fascist
Conservatives were in power. They are all classic
Greco-Roman architectural design, which would be fine if they were
intended to pay tribute to the architectural influences of the
western world; but far too many conservative politicians want to have
the U.S. become the Roman Empire of the modern world.
“Roman
history correctly conceived in extremely broad outlines is and
remains the best mentor, not only for today, but probably for all
time.” Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf
Whether it was intentional
or not it is bizarre that in the people’s House, of all places,
behind the Speaker’s Chair, are two large “Fasces”
symbols, which were not removed, even in the era of 20th
Century Fascism. The Fasces were a bundle of rods wrapped in leather
thongs, with an Ax in the center. In ancient Rome, the Fasces
symbolized the Roman Republic, bound together by Roman Law and
enforced by the power of its Superpower Military (the Ax).
Magistrates had bearers called Lictors
who held the Fasces, whenever a Roman magistrate was rendering
Justice of the Pax Romana.
Ironically,
the Fasces name and symbol was adopted by the first Fascist state of
Benito Mussolini. It seems a strange symbol to be positioned at the
head of the chamber where the people’s Representatives make the
laws for a Liberal Democratic and Constitutional Republic, of, by,
and for the people.
What
is the Heritage of American Liberal Democracy?
“Who
fought to free the slaves? Liberals. Who succeeded in abolishing the
Poll Tax? Liberals. Who fought for women’s rights, civil rights,
free public education? Liberals. Who stood guard and still stands
guard against sweatshops, child labor, racism, bigotry? Lovers of
Freedom ands enemies of tyranny; Liberals.”
Leonard
Bernstein, October 30, 1988
It is important for every
American who wishes to defend Liberty, Freedom, and Democracy, to
develop a working knowledge of a few fundamental facts about
political ideologies, their origins, and their principles, and
practices in the real world. This section is largely drawn from the
Encyclopaedia Britannica, with some editorializing by the author. It
is devoted to briefly explain the history of American
Liberal Democracy, which has an honorable heritage,
evolved from 2500 years of Western Civilization. Our American Liberal
Democratic system of government incorporates the principles of
ancient Greek Philosophy, the Scientific Movement, the Renaissance,
the Enlightenment or Age of Reason, and the political governing
practices of our uniquely American experiment.
“The
presidents we admire and celebrate most… were all in the context
of
their times vigorous and unashamed Liberals. They were pioneers on a
new frontier, seeking out the ways of the future, meeting new
problems with new remedies, carrying the message of constructive
change in a world that never stops changing. From the start of the
Republic, Liberalism has always blazed the trail into the
future----and conservatism has always deployed all the weapons of
caricature and calumny and irrelevance to conceal the historic
conservatism objective of unchecked rule by those who already have
far more than their share of the nation’s treasure.”
Arthur
M. Schlesinger Jr., October 21, 1988
Philosophy-The
Search for Wisdom
Philosophy is an English
word that is derived from the Greek word “Philosophia”,
which means the love of or pursuit of wisdom. According to the Greek
philosophers, wisdom included not only wide knowledge, but also sound
judgment, or the pursuit of mental excellence. In the 5th
century B.C., moral and practical problems were explored by Socrates
and the Sophists. Logic and the theory of knowledge date to this
time. In time, Philosophy became the genesis of all future fields of
human knowledge in the west.
The great Mathematician
Pythagoras, is said to have been the first to call himself a
philosopher (philosophos). During the second half of the 5th
century, in Athens, philosophical debate turned from natural science
and cosmology toward human affairs and practical problems of society.
In the 1st century A.D., the great Roman philosopher
Cicero said that Socrates had taken philosophy down from heaven to
earth, introduced it into the cities and houses, and made it inquire
into manners and morals.
By the end of the 5th
Century B.C.; Arithmetic, Geometry, Astronomy, and Music had been
recognized and classified as distinct fields of study, grouped
together in what became the ancient world’s curriculum of Liberal
Arts; later taught at the Greek schools at Constantinople, Athens,
and Alexandria. Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato laid the foundations
of many fields of knowledge, in the arts and sciences; later taught
in the medieval universities. The seven Liberal Arts included;
“The
Trivium” (Grammar, Rhetoric, and Logic) and the Quadrivium
(Geometry, Arithmetic, Music, and Astronomy)
By
the 13th century, competition between theology and philosophy,
between faith and reason, had already become a burning issue. St.
Thomas Aquinas (1225-74) attempted to produce a comprehensive
philosophical doctrine, based on the conviction that orthodoxy and
reason — Aristotelian philosophy (or science) on the one hand, and
Scripture (or faith) on the other — are not in disagreement.
By the 17th
century, three major cultural upheavals had resulted in an immediate
effect on philosophy: the
Renaissance, the Protestant
Reformation, and the Scientific
Movement. The science movement was led by such giants
as Copernicus (1473-1543), Francis Bacon (1561-1626), Galileo
(1564-1642), Johannes Keppler (1571-1630), Thomas Hobbs (1588-1679),
and Descartes (1596-1650).
These
pioneers in Science and Philosophy, indirectly and sometimes
unintentionally, challenged the Old Order of the conservative
Catholic Church in theological assertions about the universe; but
Martin Luther (1483-1546) and John Calvin (1509-1564) challenged the
Church directly, on the basis of its conduct; facilitating its loss
of control over religious orthodoxy as well as scientific dogma.
The
Scientific Movement exercised a powerful and direct influence over
philosophical thought. Mathematician Isaac Newton (1642-1727) proved
the law of universal gravitation that explained the workings of the
material universe. It now became necessary for thinking men to ask
what were the implications of the new discoveries about nature and
the cosmos, and to what extent they could be reconciled with
existing, primarily Bible based beliefs, in all other matters. This
separated Science and Religious superstition forever.
A new method of philosophy
was introduced in the 18th Century by John Locke
(1632-1704). Locke shared many of the rationalistic outlooks of the
other 17th century philosophers, but Locke’s
“Historical, Plain Method”
established a clear distinction between the philosopher and the
scientist, hitherto one in the same.
The great geniuses of the
17th century, had confirmed a universe of calculable
regularity, and by rigorous mathematical reasoning and logic, offered
a means independent of God’s revelation, of discovering knowledge
and establishing truth.
The
Enlightenment-Search for Knowledge and Reason
The most striking feature
of the 18th century period called the Enlightenment,
or The Age Of Reason;
was the way in which traditional Christian religious beliefs lost
their hold over men’s minds, and gave way to a different creed.
Emphasis was everywhere laid on the need for tangible evidence, and
for clarity of thought in a way that was hostile to anything based
on; faith, metaphysics, mystical thinking, or superstition. Science,
which had already successfully explained the wonders of nature, was
encouraged to discover new truths in the field of human affairs,
including government and man. In the 17th and 18th
century this movement of thought and reason, developed new
interrelated concepts of God,
Man, Nature, and Reason to which there was wide
acceptance in Europe. Its dominant idea was that right reasoning
could find true knowledge.
Thomas Paine’s “Age
of Reason” published in 1754, gave a description
of
“Natural Law.”
John Locke in his book, “Analogy”
established “Reason”
as the judge of the truth of things, and his essay “Concerning
Human Understanding” was a study of the origins of
ideas, and the shaping power of environment on man.
The intellectual freedom
of the Enlightenment became; critical, reforming, and eventually
revolutionary; hacking away the shackles which for centuries had
crippled the human mind, and kept humanity locked in the ignorance of
the dark ages. The most ominous power standing in the way of humanity
was declared to be the Sovereign
State, which demanded the loyalty, and far too often,
the blood of its people. Voltaire, Johnson, and Goethe deplored the
irrationality of the patriotic
prejudice. War was viewed as the great enemy of
civilization and men of the Enlightenment deplored it passionately.
The great thinkers of the
Enlightenment analyzed the nature of the individual, the state, and
the socio-political contract between them. Locke’s “Two
Treatises of Government” provided
common sense and moral appeal when it claimed the revolutionary idea
that “government was
derived from the consent of the members of the state.”
Prior to this time people were considered only property or
“subjects”
of the Royal Monarchists. The inviolability of personal Liberty
and Private Property became cherished concepts
prejudicial to the Old feudal and Monarchial Order.
Voltaire and Rousseau
rounded out rationalist thought with a theory of “Political
Democracy.” Voltaire held the belief in the general
progress of mankind if reason came into regular political usage.
These
great minds of the times heavily influenced the liberally educated
American founders, including Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas
Jefferson, and many others. In 1776, in the New World, Thomas
Jefferson incorporated the ideas of the enlightenment, including
Locke’s work into the Declaration of Independence.
Liberalism–Search
for Freedom
Defined as the creed,
philosophy, and movement which is committed to “Freedom”
as a method and policy in government, an organizing principle in
society, and as a way of life for the individual and the community.
Liberalism’s central
idea of Freedom
became the great seminal revolutionary idea of world history.
The way of Liberalism had actually been laid by Christianity, which
stated that man was endowed by the creator with “dignity”
as an individual, and by the Protestant Reformation, which stressed
the role of individual private judgment, even in religious matters.
Liberals believe that all people know what is best for themselves,
they are responsible for themselves, and should be allowed a very
large measure of self-determination. Being
left alone, uncoerced is the true meaning of Freedom.
People value Freedom so highly because Freedom symbolizes life
without a master. Freedom depends on each person’s willingness to
respect other’s rights and to refrain from forcibly intruding
into
other’s lives.
Liberty
is a result of the minimization of coercion, both by government and
private entities. The more coercion; the less Liberty. The NFC
Republicans have demonstrated that they are always
ready to; enforce, coerce, prohibit, penalize and command our public
and private conduct.
“The
utmost Liberty to the individual, and the fullest possible protection
to him and his property, is both the limitation and the duty of
government.” Supreme Court, 1892
In the early phases of
modern Europe, 17th century thinkers such as Descartes,
Milton, and Spinoza, served as the conduits through which liberal
thought came into European society. Descartes shaped the instrument
of Rationalism,
Spinoza established the link between Reason,
and the values of the emerging liberal outlook, and Milton assaulted
the repressive
state and religious
censorship, which prevented man from access to the
truth.
Liberalism
grew from these advances in knowledge and thought, which converged in
the Age of Reason,
producing great European voices like; Voltaire, Locke, Goethe,
Rousseau, Hume, Kant, Diderot, Lessing, Adam Smith, Vico, Condorcet,
and Montesquieu. Their effect was to radically change the
intellectual and cultural nature of society, and to challenge the
feudal Monarchial, Aristocratic, and Clerical Institutions of the Old
Order in Europe.
The golden age of
Liberalism may be dated roughly between 1750 and 1914, the start of
WWI. In its history as an ideology; Liberalism
is closely linked with the idea of Liberty,
and of Liberation,
since the idea is to aim at freeing the individual from constraints
on his mind and body, thereby expressing and fulfilling the human
spirit. The concept of Liberty is central to the whole ideology of
Liberalism; maximizing the individual’s freedom to think, to
believe, to express and discuss his views, to organize (associate) in
parties, to find employment, to buy and sell commodities (including
his own labor) freely, and to keep the rewards, to choose his rulers
as well as his form of government, and to change both by revolution
if necessary.
“He
who lets his world, or his own portion of it, choose his plan of life
for him, has no need of any other faculty than the Ape-like one of
imitation. He who chooses his plan for himself, employs all his
faculties.”
John
Stuart Mill, (1806-1873) Liberal British Philosopher and Economist
Newton and the other early
scientists of the Scientific Movement showed that the operation of
the Universe could be explained rationally in terms of the laws of
nature, without bringing in any external divine intervention. As a
result God
became Nature’s
God, and religion was universalized into Deism,
thus diluting the rigors of religious sectarian certitude, and
emphasizing tolerance toward the forms in which Nature’s
God might be worshiped.
Thomas Jefferson used the
phrase “The Laws of
Nature
and of Nature’s God” in the Declaration of
Independence. Since man had rights in nature,
governments must protect these rights, and the people must defend
them, even against the government. The
Bill of Rights, Petitions of Right, and Declarations of the Rights of
Man, became the new commandments of the era.
Armed
with the weapons of; logic, empirical systems of evidence,
mathematical proofs, and dialectic reasoning; Liberalism gained wide
acceptance in Europe and America. It was a basic assumption of the
liberal thinkers; that man is endowed with reason and goodness, and
that it is only the institutional frame into which he is born that
corrupts and enslaves him. The enemy was; custom, tradition,
institution, and social habit. The French philosopher Rousseau wrote
that;
“Man
is born free, yet he is everywhere in chains.”
Jean
Jacques Rousseau
The French philosophers,
the English Utilitarians (the Greatest good for the greatest number),
the Italian Patriot-Intellectuals were the angry young men of their
time, blasting away at the establishment of their day; the Feudal
Order, the Aristocratic Class, the Dynastic state, the religious
controlled Educational system, and censorship. They all sought to
lift from men, what Jefferson called “The
Dead Hand of the Past.”
The principles of
Liberalism are
widely recognized and followed in most western nations, with
different forms of governments, including; Constitutional Monarchies
with Parliamentary systems, and Representative Democracies, in which,
those who have governmental authority, get and retain authority
directly or indirectly as the result of winning free elections in
which all adult citizens are allowed to participate.
These modern systems of
government were heavily influenced by the 17th and 18th
century ideology of Liberalism
and it is reflected in the values contained in the Constitutions of
Europe and the U.S. These values include; Popular Consent,
Individualism, Equality of Opportunity, Personal Liberty, Free and
Fair elections, Majority rule with protection of minorities, Freedom
of expression, the right to assemble and protest, separation of
powers, a system of checks and balances to constrain the national
government’s power, and protection of personal civil and human
rights and liberties.
American
Liberal Democracy-Search For Liberty and Social Justice
American Liberal Democracy
is the uniquely “American
Experiment” in Liberal Democracy, a
political ideology that has, throughout the past two hundred plus
years, provided the American people with progress, freedom,
prosperity, and social justice. It has lasted longer than any other
Democracy, because it rests on the solid
principles of Liberalism.
“The
contest, for ages, has been to rescue Liberty from the grasp of
Executive power.”
Senator
Daniel Webster, May 27, 1834
Liberty became the central
theme of American Liberal
Democracy. Liberty as the founders expressed it, was
not simply the absence of external restraint on a person, it is the
individual’s freedom to act positively to reach his or her goals.
The
American system established by the founders, absorbed many of the
extreme revolutionary movements which sought to overthrow the ruling
classes by violence; as occurred in France and Russia, and provided a
moderate approach to individual and community harmony in the modern
world.
The obstacles that faced
the development of Liberal
Democracy in Europe were largely absent in the U.S.
There was no Feudal Order to overthrow, no encrusted traditions, no
entrenched landowning Aristocracy or Monarchy, and no oppressive
burden of state sponsored clericalism.
Once independence from the British Monarchy was accomplished, the
U.S. became the best example of a Liberal
Democratic Republic that man had ever created.
Liberalism flourished under the administrations of men like; Thomas
Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, John
F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson.
For most of its history,
the U.S. has struggled between the forces in society of Old
World conservatism and New
World liberalism.
“When
the war of Independence came to an end and a new government had to be
established, the nation was divided between two opinions. Those
opinions were as old as the world itself and are found under
different forms and with various names in all free societies. One
party wanted to restrict popular power and the other to extend it
indefinitely.” Alexis de Tocqueville,
“Democracy in America”
In the United States, the
Democratic Party has traditionally been centrist and moderate,
standing between the Conservatives on the right and the
Socialists on the left. To be a moderate, means to intervene in
disputes by opposing parties and help achieve some sort of consensus.
Moderate or traditional-Republicans had occasionally broken with
their party's platform on some issues (like abortion, for instance)
and sided with Democrats, as some Democrats have sided with
Republicans (on military funding, for example). Democrats who
frequently side with Republicans are rarely called moderates; rather,
they're often known as "conservative-Democrats,"
but in the past thirty years the Republican Party has been dominated
by an increasingly radical Ultra-Conservative
Right Wing movement.
These
Ultra-Conservatives
are now called Neo-Conservatives
but they have in fact descended into an American Neo-Fascism.
During these past 230
years, Liberal Democracy
advocates have been responsible for all of the major advances in the
liberties, rights, entitlements, and welfare of the American people,
including; ending slavery, ending child labor, legalizing labor
movements which have obtained safer working conditions and fair and
livable wages for workers, free public education, expanding civil and
human rights, old age and survivor benefits of Social Security,
Medicare and Medicaid, and a host of similar minimum requirements of
a free and fair society.
In the 20th
century, American Liberal
Democracy succeeded, under the difficult upheavals of
the Industrial age, to carry out a program of democratic government
and free market capitalism, as an alternative to the various forms of
Totalitarianism including; Socialism and Communism on the left, and
Conservatism and Fascism on the right.
“…
and that is why this type of Democracy has become the instrument of
that race, which in its inner goals, must shun the light of day now
and in all ages of the future. Only a Jew can praise an institution
which is as dirty and false as he himself.” Adolph
Hitler, Mein Kampf
By 1930, the Conservative
Republican President Hoover’s America was lurching into an
economic
collapse of near-medieval proportions. From 1930 to 1933, national
income dove from $81 Billion
to $39 Billion. In 1932, 273,000
families were evicted from their homes. The hide bound conservative
Hoover urged caution and only supported private relief efforts.
Incapable of dealing with the crisis because of his ideology, he
became the most hated man in America. In the last days of his
presidency, thirteen million
people were unemployed, one
million roamed the country in railroad boxcars, food
riots were breaking out, as relief stations ran out of cash, banks
were closed or suspended in twenty-three
states, and the New York Stock Exchange was shut down. The
Conservative movement that had ruled the country for decades proved
incapable of common sense solutions to the fundamental needs of
governing in a crisis.
The period of the great
depression, and the election of FDR and his “New
Deal” policies, saw the greatest expansion of
American Liberal Democratic
Social Justice, planting this ideology squarely in the
middle of the political spectrum, between the extreme ideologies of
the totalitarian
dictatorships and defusing anarchist
chaos.
Franklin
Roosevelt’s Economic Bill of Rights:
“The
right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or
farms or mines of the nation
The right to earn enough to
provide adequate food and clothing and recreation
The right of
every family to a decent home
The right to adequate medical care
and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health The right to
adequate protection from the economic
fears of old age,
sickness, accident and unemployment
And
the right to a good education.”
Liberal
Democrats generally believe in the possibility of
progress. They believe things can be made to work for the benefit of
the people, that the future will be better, that obstacles can be
overcome.
Liberals contend that the
character of the modern capitalist economy; and the side effects of
industrialization, technology, globalism, and corporate abuses,
require government intervention and regulation of Corporate power.
Liberal democrats have traditionally advocated programs to protect;
minorities, the poor, the weak, the old, the worker, and the
economically displaced, but Conservatives always
advocate in the interest of the super-rich and the ruling class, and
act on the maxim;
“Let
the government take care of the rich, and the rich will take care of
the poor.”
Liberal
democrats prefer that government take care of the weak, for the
strong can always take care of themselves.
In the last 30 years of
the 20th century, American
Liberal Democracy began to face its greatest
challenge, from its historical opponent, the conservative
anti-liberal reactionary radicalism
of the right, which excludes any middle-ground in
matters of domestic and foreign policy. This radicalism is as
dangerous as the original threat from Fascism in the 1930s.
The
wise fundamental liberal values of humanity, reason, and moderation
are still valid. The American people deserve a form of government
that will provide for a Peaceful Foreign Policy, adequate National
Defense, minimum necessary Domestic Security, and Economic and Social
Justice for all, in a free and fair society.
Survival of our system of
government and our culture, will require a nationwide Political
Revolution against the NFC
ideology, and a Renaissance
of the genuine values and principles of; Liberty,
Freedom and Justice.
We must return our country to an American Liberal Democratic
Government that is actually of, by, and for the people. We don’t
have to start from scratch, the ideological philosophy, is already
contained in the history of western civilization, since the 17th
Century. We just have to relearn its basic truths and defend them,
against their age old enemies.
The NFC
Republicans and their ideological ancestors have always
been the reactionary party, and protectors of the elite Aristocratic
ruling classes of society. History also shows a tendency of
Conservatives toward becoming, or joining with Authoritarian
and Totalitarian
regimes, and abusing their power against the people.
Rebuild
The People’s House—Equal Representation For All
Bush
is telling us that we must export our Democracy to those ignorant
people in the Third World that are unable to enjoy the blessings of
Democracy American style; because we Americans live in the oldest and
most Democratic Republic in the West—right? ---Wrong!!
Representation
is the first and most important principal of a Representative
Democracy and the very definition of a Republic. The House of
Representatives is called the People’s
House, because in the Constitution it was to be the
only branch of government to be popularly
elected, directly by the people. Senators were
initially appointed by the State legislatures (until that was amended
by the 17th Amendment in 1913), and the President still is
elected by Electors,
appointed by the state legislatures. (That is how G.W. Bush was
elected in 2000, even though he did not win the National popular
vote).
As
finally adopted; the U.S. Constitution provided that the size of the
People’s House was to be based on one representative for
every 30,000
people. A constitutional provision was made that;
“…the
actual enumeration” of the House “shall be
made…within every
subsequent term of ten years…”
Madison,
in the Federalist Papers was more specific “…within
every successive period of ten years, the Census is to be renewed and
augmentations are to be made.”
The
Constitution provides that the House of Representatives can have no
less than 50 members one for each state) and based on
the 2000 Census, if they were to follow the Constitution, no more
than 9,381
Representatives would be seated. (based on one
for every 30,000 people) This number would be
unmanageable, but the People’s House is in desperate need of
augmentation.
For
the first 130 years
of the Republic Congress never failed to execute this important
responsibility, adding about 40 members per decade. In 1820 the House
members increased the Representation to 45,000
to one. By 1910, A conservative Congress decided that
435
Representatives for a population of 92
million people was enough! In 1920 the House dominated
by the Republican Party, refused to reapportion the existing seats by
a vote of 276-77,
with the result that the Congressional districts for all elections
between 1912 and
1930 were exactly the same regardless of the huge
shifts in population from rural to urban areas.
Later
the Conservative
Republican Congress passed the “Permanent
Apportionment Act of 1929,” which was signed
into law by that great democratic leader Herbert
Hoover. The act froze the number of Representatives (435)
and apportioned them among the states, on the basis of the census;
and over a Century of constitutional tradition was summarily changed
without a vote of the people. The battle to limit the size of the
People’s House was not just a fight between rural and urban
areas;
it was a fight between the current citizens and the masses of
immigrants that were also crowding into the big cities, where they
could find employment. The long awaited redistricting of the 1932
election was a major factor in the overwhelming victory of Franklin
Roosevelt.
In
2000 our representation was 646,947 to one. This is an
astoundingly undemocratic situation that is never discussed in
elections.
Among
the other major Western Republics the representation ratio is much
more democratic. In Great
Britain the ratio is 90,000 to one, and in Germany
it is 136,000 to one. In Russia
it is 326,000 to one and even in the People’s
Republic of China it is 415,000
to one; neither of which are considered democracies by
Free World standards.
We
now have a population of almost 300
million and we are still represented by only 435
Members of Congress. The effects of this Oligarchical
system was evident in the last election, when only three
House seats changed hands, the smallest turnover in history. With
such large ratios, individual Congressional representatives have
greater difficulty maintaining any sort of meaningful communication
with their constituents; causing them to rely on Special Interest
groups; and running for office has only become possible if a
candidate is independently wealthy or as is more often the case, they
are bankrolled by Corporate
Special Interests.
For
American Democracy to survive there is an urgent need to increase the
number of seats in the House to a ratio of no
more than 250,000 to one, and this should be an issue
in the next elections. More seats would provide for more
representation in the high density cities and would serve to stop
gerrymandering such as was conducted by the DeLay forces in Texas in
2004.
The
NFC Republicans
will fight to maintain the present undemocratic scheme, as new seats
would inevitably benefit minorities and urban areas, and reduce the
power of more conservative and backward rural areas.
The
Democratic Party has failed to challenge the system, and demand more
Representation in the People’s House” which is becoming
more like
a lower House of Lords!
The
Universal Democracy Initiative
In September of 2005, the
NFC Republican
Congress was placed into a very uncomfortable spotlight.
On July 25, 2005, the New
York Sun reported that; “they
will be set to consider new legislation that would commit America to
ending tyranny the world over.”
Tucked
inside the House version of a bill that authorizes spending on
foreign aid is the language of what is known as the ADVANCE Democracy
Act. The act instructs American ambassadors and embassy staffs to
draw up democracy transition plans for unfree regimes, with input
from nonviolent opposition movements in the various countries. While
Congress has passed laws that require America to work with democratic
opposition groups for specific countries - such as the 1998 Iraq
Liberation Act - never before has it considered a law that would, as
ADVANCE proposes, “commit United States foreign policy to the
challenge of achieving Universal Democracy.”
A sponsor of
the legislation, Rep. Tom Lantos, a Democrat of California, predicted
that in the Senate the bill, sponsored there by Senator McCain, a
Republican of Arizona, and Senator Lieberman, a Democrat of
Connecticut, would not be opposed. “I don't think there will be
any opposition in the Senate,” he told The New York Sun.
The
little-noticed legislation passed the House a week ago today as part
of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act by a vote of 351-78. Mr.
Lantos last week told the Sun that the bill “puts the meat on
the bones of the president's second inaugural address.” In that
speech, President Bush said, “It is the policy of the United
States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and
institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of
ending tyranny in our world.”
The bill would allow the
State Department to “use all instruments of United States
influence to support, promote, and strengthen democratic principles,
practices, and values in foreign countries.” It charges the CIA
and Treasury Department with tracking the personal assets of
dictators and their associates.
ADVANCE would require the
Secretary of State to approve an annual report designating nations as
either democratic, undemocratic, or in transition. Currently, Foggy
Bottom does not make such formal distinctions, though a human rights
group created by Congress, the Freedom House, does, ranking countries
around the world as “free,” “partly free,” and “not
free.”
Despite Mr. Lantos’s view that he is advancing
Mr. Bush’s policy, the White House at least officially opposes most
of the legislation’s toughest measures.
A
July 20 statement of administration policy by the Bush administration
said that it "appreciates the intent" of the proposal but
objects to provisions that require the secretary of state to
categorize countries according to whether they are democratic. The
statement says the bill could "constrain the Secretary's
authority to determine appropriate terms and conditions to enable
discretionary foreign assistance to best serve our diverse foreign
policy objectives." The statement also rejected measures in the
bill that would create an undersecretary of state for democracy and
global affairs.
Despite some of the official objections,
there is evidence that Foggy Bottom is quietly making preparations
for when the ADVANCE Democracy Act becomes law. Two administration
officials and one congressional source confirmed this week that the
Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor has begun asking the
State Department's regional bureaus to draw up a list of countries
that would be eligible for the legislation's democratic transition
plans. The State Department is also looking into better ways of
marshaling foreign aid to meet the legislation's objections.
The
legislation, the formal title of which is the Advance Democratic
Values, Address Nondemocratic Countries, and Enhance Democracy Act of
2005, is the brainchild of a former American ambassador, Mark Palmer,
who is on Freedom House's board of trustees. Mr. Palmer was the chief
American official negotiating the release of Natan Sharansky from a
Soviet gulag and served as America's ambassador to Hungary when that
country threw off the shackles of its Soviet puppet government.
In
2003, Mr. Palmer wrote "Breaking the Real Axis of Evil," in
which he proposed that the goal of American foreign policy should be
to assist nonviolent, democratic oppositions in the world's outposts
of tyranny. He began shopping the legislation last year to
congressional offices and says he found a lot of enthusiasm for the
idea among members of both parties.
“The overall vision
of this law is that we should take the bipartisan goal of a
dictator-free world and institutionalize that in our diplomacy and
foreign policy,” he said. Mr. Palmer added, “One of the
most important things in the bill is that it provides for the
beginning of a dialogue between democratic forces and our embassies
in nondemocratic countries.” When asked whether he believed
there should be an exception for China, which has often been excluded
from pro-democracy policies in the past, he said, “No, I don't
think there should be any exceptions.”
Lantos has cleverly
challenged the NFC
Republicans to put their actions where their words
are, and this will present a major problem to the
Nationalist-Conservatives which have cozied up to some of the most
undemocratic and tyrannical regimes in the world. There are already
signs that the NFC
Republicans will water down the bill, and then slow
roll it to death.

Another
question is, assuming that there will be some standards to evaluate
governments, with a Democracy report card; where would Mr. Bush’s
United States rank, in a current listing of most and least Democratic
Governments in the world?
The
Democratic Party has the makings of a Perfect Storm issue for the
next elections, if the Democratic leadership doesn’t fail to
follow
through.
SHORT
TERM EMERGENCY SURVIVAL MEASURES
“…whenever
any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends (that is,
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) it is the right of the
people to alter it or abolish it.” The
Declaration of Independence, 1776
Urgent
Action Needed to Alter The Government in November 2006
The 2006 elections are
crucial to our survival as a People’s Republic. It is vital
that the Democratic Party regain control of the United
States Senate. This will enable this severely weakened opposition
party to restrain this irresponsible President and Congress from
enacting into law, additional extreme NFC
policies, programs, and from engaging in any further foreign
aggression.
“Congress
shall immediately upon our inauguration, initiate amendments to the
Constitution providing (a) that the President shall have the
authority to institute and execute all necessary measures for the
conduct of the government during this critical epoch; (b), that
Congress shall serve only in an advisory capacity, calling to the
attention of the President and his aides and Cabinet any needed
legislation, but not acting upon same until authorized by the
President so to act; and (c), that the Supreme Court shall
immediately have removed from its jurisdiction the power to negate,
by ruling them to be unconstitutional or by any other judicial
action, any or all acts of the President, his duly appointed aides,
or Congress.” “It
Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis, 1935
Traditional conventional
wisdom of the Democratic Party consultants is to target and spend
resources to defeat moderate Republicans that are in mixed swing
states, If this strategy is followed, it will be self defeating.
Moderate and traditional-conservative Republicans such as John
McCain, are preferable to NFC
Republicans, and it is important to target those
extreme Senators that represent the worst record of aggressive
foreign policies, support of torture, sellout to the Special
Corporate Intersects, and those with any taint of corruption. It
would be better to go after the most extreme of the NFC
Republican Senators, for example; Jeff
Sessions, Sam Brownback, Rick Santorum, Bill Frist, George Allen,
Wayne Allard, Chris Bond, James Inhofe, Tom Coburn, Thad Cochran,
Trent Lott, Pat Roberts, Ted Stevens, and John Cornyn,
when they are up for re-election. A challenge must also be mounted
against every NFC
Republican, vulnerable to ethics charges. Their
records of un-American behavior can be successfully challenged. The
Campaign issues are contained in this Essay.
A unified Universal
Democracy Alliance should mount a massive and
unprecedented Public
Diplomacy program consisting of; mass communication
and on-the ground volunteer Liberty
Now Squads (each squad consisting of one each
representative of; Labor, Women, Black, Latino, Poor, Mothers of
slain Iraqi War Soldiers, Veterans, Social Security Recipients, etc.,
and their leader should be selected by the group. These grassroots
Squads would hold rallies and press conferences to voice their
objections to the NFC
candidate, from the perspective of their unique issues. They
should be selected from inside the state, given training on the
fundamentals of: Comparative Ideologies, public speaking and the
issues described in this book. Members of the Liberty
Now Squad from the Senator’s home state must also
be
certified to register voters. We need literally thousands of such
volunteers to take the training and become vocal advocates of Liberal
Democracy.
It is urgent that we work
to turn out every freedom loving man and woman in America to defend
themselves against the NFC
Republican threat. Apathetic Americans appear to have
no interest in politics, or they believe that there is so little
difference between the two major parties, that only half of them turn
out to vote.
This is a false
impression. The Democratic Party, weak as it has been; has
traditionally responded to the public’s appeals and opinions
(albeit frequently late) but the NFC
Republicans, are actually proud to proclaim that they
ignore polls, and the appeals of the people. The Bush regime is
notorious for ignoring Public Opinion and the appeals of practically
every professional group that has complained about the Iraq war, the
continuing occupation, the casualties, the torture policies, the loss
of liberties, and the people’s widespread opposition to his
domestic policies. Minority and poor members of the electorate, that
have suffered the most from these policies, have continually failed
to vote in large percentages. This
must be corrected!
American
history confirms that all Conservative Republican regimes have been
adamant and stubborn
in their governance; such as Herbert Hoover who was totally
insensitive to the great suffering in depression era America. They
characteristically do not respond to the people; preferring to take
their advice from the leaders of the Corporate, Religious, Financial,
and other Conservative elites; that are primarily interested in
preserving the Special
Interests of the Super-rich and powerful.
They
are as isolated and oblivious to the opinions and pleas of the
American people in 2006, as was the despotic King George, in 1776.
In the last election, it
has been calculated that only
48% of eligible voters came to the polls. This
is the major cause of the gradual loss of our precious Liberties. In
the small country of Italy,
for comparison, 93% of the
electorate voted in the last national election!
(Unfortunately
too many of them voted the wrong way, and they are now paying the
price!)
“Just
because you don’t take an interest in Politics, doesn’t
mean
Politics won’t take an interest in you.”
Pericles,
430 BC
For the survival of
Liberty, Freedom
and Democracy
throughout the shrinking world, the American people, citizens of the
most militarily powerful nation in history, must re-embrace the wise
fundamental democratic secular governing principles of the U.S.
Constitution, and be born again in a Universal
Democratic Faith, and in a religious Interfaith
Alliance of respect for people of all faiths,
embracing the redemptory teachings of Jesus the Christ, Buddha, and
other great and gentle moral teachers.
“If
the persons entrusted with power become usurpers. The
Citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without
system, without resource, except in their courage and despair. The
Usurpers, clothed with the forms of legal authority, can too often
crush the opposition in embryo.”
Alexander
Hamilton, the Federalist Papers, No. 28
First however, survival of
Liberty,
demands we throw the NFC
Republican, Fascist
War Criminals and Anti-Christs, out of the halls of power,
while we still have time, and the right to do so. That will require a
massive organizing effort to inform, activate, and motivate all
Americans to the serious threat we face, if the NFC
Republicans and their fanatical CNF
Crusader partners maintain absolute control of all
branches of the U.S. Government in 2006.
Aristocratic
Power Seekers:
“While
power is in the hands of the people, or democratic part of the
community, more especially as at present, it is easy, according to
the general course of human affairs, for the few influential men in
the community to obtain conventions, alterations in government, and
to persuade the common people that they may change for the better,
and to get from them a part of the power.. the
government in this case being beneficial to the few… you may
discover in all the actions of these men an evident dislike to free
and equal government, and they will go systematically to work to
change, essentially, the forms of government in this
country—these
are called Aristocrats.”
Richard
Henry Lee, October, 1787
Defend
the Jewel of Liberty
“Is
the relinquishment of trial by jury, and the Liberty of the press
necessary for your Liberty? Will the abandonment of your most sacred
rights tend to the security of your Liberty? Liberty, the greatest of
all earthly blessings—give us that precious jewel, and you may
take
everything else…Guard with jealous attention the public Liberty.
Suspect every one who approaches that jewel.”
Patrick
Henry, June 5, 1788
Liberal-Democracy
is the political art which constrains government to insure the
protection of the precious Liberties of the people. The words Liberty
and Liberal come from the same Latin root, and must always be used
together with Democracy, to describe the political ideology of the
Enlightenment, that evolved from the greatest political philosophers
of the 17th through the 19th Century, in England, France, and
America. It was the political religion of most of the Aristocratic
founders of the United States of America.
Good
Advice from the Father of Our Country:
“As
mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all
those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are
equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever
to see America among the foremost nations of Justice and
Liberality.”
President
George Washington
After 30 years of
name-calling, the NFC
Republicans have finally succeeded in separating the
word which describes the philosophy of Liberalism,
from the word which describes Government of, by, and for the people.
This was a calculated and deliberate tactic of divide
and conquer, which has become a hallmark of the NFC
movement. They knew that no American would willingly
follow a party that openly expressed contempt for Democracy,
so by attacking Liberals,
they forced the Democratic Party to divide itself into Liberal
and Conservative
camps; while they have become lock-step Neo-Fascist-Conservatives.
“The
history of Liberty is a history of resistance. The history of Liberty
is a history of the limitation of government power, not the increase
of it.”
President
Woodrow Wilson, September 9, 1912
They have been so
successful in vilifying the political name Liberal,
that now almost all Democratic Politicians go to great lengths to
prove that they are not Liberal. During the Democratic Presidential
primaries in 2004, none of the Candidates admitted to having a
Liberal voting
record. In recent years, the Democrats and their base have been so
intimidated by these tactics, they have taken to calling themselves
Progressives or
Populists. Courageous Liberal Democratic leaders
have understood this and stood their ground.
“But
if by ‘Liberal’ they mean someone who looks ahead and not
behind,
someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who
cares about the welfare of the people…. If that is what they
mean
by ‘Liberal’ then I’m damn proud to say I’m a
‘Liberal.’”
President
John F. Kennedy
The Progressive
era was essentially a period when the politicians responded to the
majority of American merchants who were united against the excesses
of the Monopolistic Financial Trusts. The Progressives had no loyalty
to the honorable political philosophy of Liberal Democracy, or the
people, thus calling Liberal Democrats Progressives
is a historical mistake, and a cop out. There was no group of
Progressive or Populist thinkers that inspired the Enlightenment. The
leaders of the Democratic Party, particularly the DLC, have failed to
understand that by allowing the Neo-Fascists to demonize the name
Liberal, they
have fallen into their trap, and permitted the desecration of the
honorable ancient historical ideology of the Enlightenment.
“Justice
and Liberty! Those are the words that have got to ring like a bugle
across the world.” George Orwell, The Road To
Wigan, 1937
We
are the beneficiaries of the historic struggles of mankind for
Freedom and Liberty, especially the British, American and French
revolutions, for which so many people suffered and died to free
themselves from the chains of the Conservative Aristocratic ruling
classes of; Royalty, tyrants, priests, and dictators, which had
dominated mankind since the dawn of history.
If we don’t defend the
principles of American
Liberal Democracy, now when they are under renewed
attack in the U.S., they will be lost to the world forever.
“I
know not what course others may take; but as for me give me Liberty,
or give me death.”
Patrick
Henry, March 23, 1775
Therefore, one of the
first actions that must be taken is, to proudly rehabilitate the
political ideology and the institution of American
Liberal Democracy. This, among other measures,
will require an educational program to increase understanding of the
great blessings of living in a country blessed with Liberty and
governed by the principles of Liberal
Democracy. The Principles of Liberal
Democracy must be understood, published and taught to
every man, woman, and child living in this country. It is not
necessary to become a politician or a Political Scientist. We must
only learn the most fundamental principles of Liberal
Democracy and its heritage, if we are to confront the
evils of the NFC movement, and to insure that our children live in a
free Society in the future.
“Proclaim
Liberty throughout the land unto all of the inhabitants thereof.”
The

Discredit
the False Prophets of Neo-Conservatism
“The
two parties which divide the state, the party of Conservatism and
that of innovation, are very old, and have disputed the possession of
the world ever since it was made.”
Ralph
Waldo Emerson, 1841
Having been a moderate
traditional-conservative
Republican for 30 years, the author has an insiders insight into the
NFC Republican
agenda, philosophy and Ideology, that has evolved over the past 50
years. The scales finally dropped from my eyes after the witch hunt
that took place during the Presidency of Bill Clinton. I have never
fully supported Clinton or Gore, because I despised their
Conservative Light
approach to governing; while claiming to embrace American
Liberal Democracy.
Nothing
demonstrates this better than the fact that before leaving office,
President Clinton granted pardons to very wealthy donors, when he
could have struck a meaningful blow for Liberty; by pardoning all of
the thousands of poor white, black, and Latino prisoners, serving
unjustified long sentences in Federal prisons for mere possession of
crack cocaine, and Marijuana.
Make no mistake, the
Clinton administration was light years better than the current
regime; but the results of the last two elections should by now have
proved to all supporters of American
Liberal Democracy, that the DLC dominated Democratic
Party, which has a good heart, needs political brain surgery to
re-establish its priorities.
First and foremost is the
need to confront the New
or Neo-Conservatism,
currently embraced by the
rulers of the NFC
Republican Party, which has moved
far to the right of even the most radical of all previous
Conservative political leaders.
“Extremism
in the defense of liberty is no vice”
and “moderation
in
the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
Barry Goldwater
On
October 23, 2005 Eric Alterman wrote about the Liberal dilemma. These
are some excerpts from his article;
Here is the liberals'
problem in a nutshell: More than 30 percent of
Americans happily answer to the appellation "conservative,"
while 18 percent call themselves "liberal."
And yet when questioned by pollsters, a super-majority of more
than 60 percent take positions liberal, in everything
but name. Indeed, on many if not most issues, Americans hold views
well to the left of those espoused by almost any national Democratic
politician.
In a May 2005 survey
published by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 65
percent of respondents said they favor providing
health insurance to all Americans, even if it means raising taxes,
and 86 percent
said they favor raising the minimum wage. Seventy-seven
percent said they believe the country “should
do whatever it takes to protect the environment.”
A September 2005 Gallup
Poll finds that 59 percent
consider the Iraq War a mistake and 63
percent agree that US forces should be partially or
completely withdrawn.
Nevertheless,
extremist right-wingers, including a few apparent criminals, enjoy a
stranglehold on our political system and media discourse. And so the
majority views of the American people are treated with contempt by
pundits and politicians alike. Because right-wingers have been so
adept at controlling the political discourse, they have succeeded in
moving the Democrats rightward too.
Brooks himself has pointed
out that the conservative media have “cohered
to form a dazzlingly efficient ideology delivery system that swamps
liberal efforts to get their ideas out."
In fact, all that's necessary to discredit an individual or an idea
in the present poisoned atmosphere is to apply the label "liberal,”
which conservatives equate with “treason”,
"“slander”
and “treachery.”
(Ann Coulter); “idiocy”
(Mona Charen); "“Communism”
(David Horowitz); inspiration for“child
murder” (Newt Gingrich); “Islamic
terrorism” (Andrew Sullivan, Christopher Hitchens,
Horowitz again); and “priestly
pedophilia.” (Rick Santorum).
Mafia-like manipulation of
the levers of power in the House, Senate and White House that not
only frustrates the Democratic opposition, but cuts off their sources
of financial support; and a network of New
Corporate and Clerical Power Brokers, like the
aforementioned DeLay, Grover Norquist and countless think tanks,
media moguls, funders and lobbyists who work together to game the
system at a level that is either too complicated or too boring to
attract intelligent scrutiny.
With leading Republicans
looking at potential jail time and Bush's approval rating in a
tailspin, providence has given liberals an opportunity pregnant with
possibility. Americans already share our values and no longer remain
in thrall to the linguistic
terror tactics of right-wing propagandists. What we
need now is a liberal language
to help people connect needs and desires to “liberals’
vision.”
The
language and vision are already available and are described in this
book.
The principal challenge
facing those, who would influence the American people to return to
their Liberal Democratic
heritage is; how to discredit the powerful notion of
Neo-Conservatism,
which is actually a fraudulent value system. If we believe polling
and electoral results, more than half of all adult American voters
now subscribe to this fraud.
“The
Framers made the federal government stronger because of the alarming
quantity and dismaying quality of ‘active liberty’ in the
states.” George F. Will, Conservative
Columnist, Newsweek, September 26, 2005
With this outrageously
false statement, Right
wing-conservative Mr. Will demonstrated the hostile
attitude of all radical-Conservatives,
to the concept of Liberty,
held even by those who are not Neo-Fascists.
There is no such record of limiting “Active
Liberty” in the Constitution, or in the Federalist
papers. Like all Conservatives, Will was worried about money. He had
reference to concerns raised about creditors being cheated. There was
little chance of this in a period when debtors prisons were in use.
The strong Federal system or National government, that Will refers
to, was primarily intended to provide for a strong defense of the
nation, after the problems the Revolutionary Army had holding its
troops in service for the duration of the war.
The traditionally
moderate, good, and generous people, who are
traditional-conservatives
(with a small “c”) in all of their day-to-day lives, but
very
naive about politics; have been blinded by NFC
Republican propaganda, masquerading as benign middle
class populism and financial and cultural conservatism. In fact, the
NFC dogma
is no different than that of the Radical- Conservative
Pseudo-Populism of the 1930s Fascists,
which was a blend of extreme Nationalism,
Militarism, Imperialism, dogmatic
ideologies, religious
and racist primacy, hypocritical righteousness, resentment of social
justice, dire and false warnings of the decline of sexual, cultural,
and moral values, creation and demonization of hated enemies, and
great fear and resistance to social change in the modern world.
The 21st Century NFC
Republican dogma is a carbon copy of that dark age.
American Liberals,
Socialists, Democrats, and moderates, like their
European cousins in pre-war Germany and Italy, are loathe to resort
to the practice of name calling, even when it is true; whereas the
NFC Republicans
have been consistently using these time proven tactics; which were so
effectively used against the Liberal and Social Democrats of the
1930s, by the thugs of the original Fascist movements. It is a sad
commentary on the gullibility, and political naiveté of the
average American, but it works; especially when it is repeated often
enough. The next time you listen to a Radical
Neo-Conservative propagandist, see how long it takes
them to call the opposition Liberals
as though the name were somehow akin to leprosy.
This Essay announces it is time to begin calling Neo-Conservative
Republicans what they really are…Neo-Fascists!
The
Soul of a People is Awakened in Battle against Liberalism:
“The
soul of a people, however, can only awaken through sacrifice and
pain. A perpetual sacrifice to put up with the stench of putrefying
corpses which Liberalism… Skepticism,… and factional
politics
leaves wafting over the fields.” Plinio Salgado, Brazilian
Integralist Action (AIB), Brazilian
Fascist Party, Rio de Janeiro, 1935
In the same way they have
demonized the “L” (Liberal)
word, we must now discredit and expose
the NFC
form of Conservatism,
for what it really is; Neo-Fascism.
Fascism must be
unmasked as the real ideology of the Neo-Conservatives
of the NFC
Republicans. NFC
Conservatism must become a dirty name, covered with the blood,
guts, and filth, which this ideology causes, this includes, attacks
against the rights and economic interests of the common man and
woman, in favor of the Super-rich, and powerful, and
the death and destruction of peoples, cultures, and nations, by NFC
Imperial-Nationalist wars intended to dominate the
entire world.
Assuming that we are
successful in defeating the NFC
Republicans in 2006, we must never allow this ideology to
gain a foothold in American or world politics again.
This
will require a comprehensive and continuing program of grass roots
education, activism, and oversight of our, increasingly Aristocratic
politicians, at every level of government. This will not be easy as
the American electorate is the most apathetic and politically
unsophisticated in the entire world.
“The
tyranny of a principal in an Oligarchy is not so dangerous to the
public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a Democracy.”
Charles Louis de Montesquieu
This may be due to the
fact that Americans have, until now, never been forced to live in a
Dictatorial,
Authoritarian, or Totalitarian system of
government before.
“If
we expect this country to work, it depends on an informed, an
intelligent electorate. You know, Thomas Jefferson said very early on
in our republic that the nation that expects to be ignorant and free
never can and never will be. We're an ignorant nation right now.
We're not really capable I do not think the majority of our people,
of making the decisions that have to be made at election time, and
particularly in the selection of their legislatures and their
Congress and the Presidency of course. I don't think we're bright
enough to do the job that would preserve our Democracy, our Republic.
I think we're in serious danger.” Walter
Cronkite, Larry King Show, October 1, 2005
The NFC
Republicans are not ten feet tall, and they can be
beaten. In polls taken in late 2005, by legitimate polling concerns,
President Bush’s approval rating had fallen to the lowest of any
President in his second term. Only 37% of Americans
approve of the way he is doing his job. For example, 67%
of Americans disapprove of his plans to privatize Social Security;
and amidst his frequent pep rallies with the troops; his Happy Talk
about the War in Iraq, is not working, as his numbers continue to
slide, along with the steadily mounting casualty reports.
“If
POTUS is on the road, you can breathe a little easier. Otherwise, it
is one temper tantrum after another from Bush, whose "cakewalk
war" has turned into interminable conflict, whose idiocy in
diverting funding for New Orleans' levees to war in Iraq was
disastrous for the famous city, and whose Social Security
privatization has been rejected by the electorate. Even rah-rah
Republican Newt Gingrich says the White House is surrounded by
failure.” Bush Aide speaking in
confidence Source: Paul Craig Roberts, October 4, 2005
In
typical Bush-world bluster, Senator John Cornyn of Texas says that
the polls don’t deter the President, “I’d
say it motivates him.”
Let us continue to
motivate him, but remember he is not running in 2006.
If
the Sun-American and criminally profligate actions of the current
regime, during the past five years, are not sufficient to spark a
national political revolution, then all is lost, and by the time the
masses of our society awaken, it will be too late.
When we are successful in
defeating the NFC
Republicans that are in power today, a long term
program for a political Renaissance in America must be adopted and
pursued with fierce determination.
The
Strategic Power of Triangulation
President
Clinton was a master at politics, but he would honestly admit that he
was able to defeat the elder Bush for President, because of a
periodic phenomenon which occurs in America. Super wealthy
Aristocratic Americans, that love Liberty, and who are frequently not
politicians, become sufficiently disgusted with the corruption of the
party in power, and the direction they are taking the country, that
they become turncoats against the ruling class. As pointed out
earlier, Franklin D. Roosevelt was such an Aristocratic turncoat.
Ross Perot was also such a
turncoat. His Populist Reform Party movement, more than any other
factor, caused the defeat of the Republican campaign to re-elect the
senior Bush in 1991. Perot must have been serious about his run for
the presidency, because he largely financed the entire campaign from
his personal funds. That is still legal in the U.S., however, he must
have known that he had little chance of winning the Presidency. The
NFC Republican
dirty tricks campaign saw to that. Maybe all he wanted was to stop
Bush Sr. from winning, and this could be the key to defeating the NFC
Republicans again. Instead of concentrating all
energies on a frontal assault by the opposition party, we should
insure that the Republican base is split by a third party with a
populist and
conservative (with a small “c”) message and
champion.
By having another right-of-center Reform Party in the mix, many financial and social
“conservative”
populist voters that normally voted for the Republican candidate,
voted for the Reform Party. This was a critical factor in the Bush
I-Clinton-Perot election, and it forced the Republican candidate to
take the Reform Party seriously. In National debates, the Reform
Party was able to discredit much of the Bush Sr. record and agenda;
and the criticism was coming from the Independent right of the
political spectrum. This persuaded many Reagan Democrats and Moderate
Republicans to vote for Clinton, or Perot.
It
takes no genius to calculate that Triangulation by right of center
parties works to the benefit of American Liberal Democracy,
and the people, whereas left
of center parties, such as the Green Party, work to the
benefit of the NFC
Republicans.
The Reform Party will
probably never rise again, but there is a right of center Party that
espouses Populism,
and that is already registered in most states.
That Party is the
Libertarian Party.
Much of its platform is the same as the Republican Party,
particularly the obsession with limiting the role of the United
Nations; but much of the platform is Populist
and Liberal,
such as reduced police powers, and the legalization of Marijuana.
What is needed in the next
election is, to make it possible for those moderate populist
Americans who for whatever reason cannot support the Democratic Party
or the Republican Party; to join and register with the Libertarian
Party, and take it over by sheer force of numbers. Once in control of
the Party the moderate Libertarians could eliminate those provisions
in the party platform that are Radical Conservative and incompatible
with the Principles of American
Liberal Democracy, and World Peace.
It will only require that
the Libertarian Party attract a small percentage of socially moderate
Christians and Populist Republican Party voters, to tip the scale
against them. Even with the massive help of corporate largesses and
the fanatical Christian-Nationalists, Bush Jr. only won the popular
vote by a few percentage points. One way to precipitate the split;
might be to rename the Party the, Christian
Libertarian Party. That would create a schizophrenic
split among many CNF
Crusaders!
The Anti-War Veterans
would be the type of Liberal
Democracy advocates that should lead this effort. It
depends on whether they can find another rich Aristocratic turncoat
to underwrite the campaign.
A
true Patriot like General Wesley Clark or Anthony Zinni could be the
right kind of American to serve as the Presidential Candidate on a
Reform Libertarian ticket. In fact either of them could win! If he
did, he should form a government of National Unity, with American
Liberal Democracy advocates and Moderates of all political parties in
his cabinet.
Later, after the 2006
elections, if the Democratic Party fails to provide leadership to
restore American Liberal
Democracy, it will be time to form a new mainstream
people’s party in America.
Resist
Tyranny Everywhere
One
of the greatest inspirations for revolutionary Liberating movements
throughout the world was the essay “Civil
Disobedience”, written by a poet naturalist of mid
nineteenth century New England, Henry David Thoreau.
On
Unjust Laws:
“Since
the existence of unjust laws is undisputable, the citizen has a
choice among three types of action; obey them, obey them until they
can be amended, or transgress them at once.” Henry
David Thoreau
Thoreau’s
philosophy contains fundamental truths. It is a citizen’s duty to
fight injustice in society, and to do his share to ensure that
injustices are not perpetuated by the state., Under weakened or sham
democracies, as a political party in power reveals a tendency to
reach out for constantly increasing power, the individual must find
the courage to disobey, and to passively resist, because once a
nation becomes an absolute dictatorship, the problem becomes
impossible to correct, and Liberty is lost forever.
Thoreau’s
philosophy of resistance can rightfully be credited with helping to
free the nation of India from Imperial British occupation and rule.
In 1907, Mahatma Ghandi, a young Hindu lawyer discovered
Thoreau’s
“Civil
Disobedience” essay. He was dissatisfied
with
the term Passive Resistance,
which he was using for the resistance movement against discriminatory
British laws enforced against the Hindu population of India. He at
once adopted the term Civil
Disobedience to describe the tactic which
eventually resulted in the Independence of India.
“My
first introduction to Thoreau’s writings was, I think, in 1907,
or
later, when I was in the thick of the passive resistance struggle. A
friend sent me the essay on Civil Disobedience. It left a deep
impression on me….” Mahatma Ghandi
During
the Black population’s struggle for Civil Rights, the Reverend
Martin Luther King credited Thoreau with his adoption of the
Non-violent methods of civil disobedience:
“When
I went to Atlanta’s Morehouse College as a freshman in
1944,…I
read Thoreau’s ‘Essay on Civil Disobedience’ for the
first
time. Fascinated by the idea of refusing to cooperate with an evil
system, I was so deeply moved that I reread the work several times.
This was my first intellectual contact with the theory of nonviolent
resistance. Something began to say to me, he who passively accepts
evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate. He who
accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with
it. When oppressed people willingly accept their oppression they only
serve to give the oppressor a convenient justification for his
acts.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
“Stride Toward Freedom”
In
the current political climate in America, civil disobedience will
bring violent reaction from the NFC
controlled Government. Peaceful, law-abiding political
dissenters have already been harassed, spied on, investigated and
arrested for speaking out against the CNF
Bush regime. Under these limitations the Peace or Anti-War
movement has struggled to gain support, even though they have
energized massive marches all over the world.
It
is vital that all Americans that want to preserve what is left of our
Freedoms, engage in whatever form of resistance that is possible.
This includes joining organized resistance movements, participating
in Marches and peaceful demonstrations, and above all evangelizing
all of the people within your circle of friends, especially moderate
Republicans and misguided Democrats, that may have voted for Bush out
of Patriotism, or unjustified Fear of Terrorism.
Finally
respond to fund raising requests by Liberal
organizations that are in the front lines fighting the NFC
Republicans. Then…
Vote
Before You Lose The Right To Vote
In
the past two World Wars, Americans have fought and died to Liberate
captive peoples of dictatorial regimes all over the world. Today the
American people are living in the first phase of a Neo-Fascist
dictatorship, and there is no one to come to their aid. We must
liberate ourselves, and this is only possible before the right to
vote is eliminated or totally defrauded by electronic methods.
Fascism
on Elections:
“By
1929, the eradication of Liberalism and Socialism as political
threats was complete and institutional foundations of the Fascist
state were in place. Gone for good is the depressing succession of
deceptions, frauds, and acts of violence which inevitably accompanied
the so-called electoral campaigns of the past; the election itself
has been abolished. People now vote for an idea, for a regime, not
for men.” Benito Mussolini, State of the Union Speech,
March 10, 1929
Even in a high turn-out
presidential election year, only 15 percent of the
eligible voters determine the outcome of the election. Of all
eligible adults, only about 60
percent are actually registered. Only half of those
cast ballots, so typically in an off
year election, only approximately 30 percent of the
eligible voters actually vote. Therefore; less
than 15 percent of the eligible voters will determine the outcome in
the Senate races in 2006!
If you agree with what you
have read, you have an obligation to yourself, your family, your
friends, your children, and your country to help get out the vote
against the entire RCN
Republican ticket. None of this information is of any
use if we fail to get out and vote!
Vote
Early and Vote Often!
This canard has been
frequently used to allege Democratic Party voting fraud. While there
may be some truth to the charges, it is also certain that the other
side used the same tactics. However, a new threat has emerged, since
the voting controversies during the Gore-Bush voting debacle in
Florida, in 2000. Electronic voting has been hailed as the panacea
for eliminating |
